Xiaomi is launching the Redmi K20 smartphone outside the Chinese market as the Mi 9T. After launching the phone in Europe, the company has now today launched the same smartphone in Malaysia, as expected.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T features a 6.39-inch AMOLED display that comes with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It comes integrated with the latest seventh-generation in-display fingerprint reader.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 octa-core processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM. The phone comes in two storage options — 64GB and 128GB. It also a microSD card slot that enables users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity.
Coming to the camera department, the smartphone features a triple camera setup on the back side, which consists of a 48 MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor, a 13 MP secondary sensor, and an 8 MP tertiary sensor. On the front side, it comes equipped with a 20 MP snapper with a pop-up mechanism for taking selfies and video calling.
The phone runs Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MIUI 10 custom user interface. The device is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery that comes with support for 18W fast charging technology.
In Malaysia, the Xiaomi Mi 9T smartphone is priced at RM1,199 (approximately $290) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model while the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model costs RM1,399, which roughly converts to $340.
The 64GB storage model will go on sale in Malaysia from 25th June through Lazada while the 128GB storage variant will be available for purchase in the country from 28th June through authorized Mi Stores.
Xiaomi has also revealed that the Mi 9T will be launched in the Philippines on June 24 and will be sold via Lazada. However, we’ll have to wait until the launch event to know its pricing. On the other hand, the company is all set to launch the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro smartphones in India next month but the exact launch date is not yet known.
