Xiaomi’s newly independent Redmi sub-brand has confirmed that it is working on a phone with a pop-up or elevating selfie camera – which invariably means this phone will have no unsightly notch or display cutout to obstruct your view.
In a short video shared by Redmi on Chinese social media website Weibo, the Xiaomi sub-brand has briefly teased the phone’s pop-up selfie camera. Surprisingly, the teaser heavily features content from Avengers Endgame, hinting at some sort of tie-in. No further details including those pertaining to a possible launch window have been shared though.
We questioned whether this device would be the upcoming Redmi flagship device, but apparently it’s not. Redmi chief Lu Weibing has confirmed the flagship phone won’t have a pop-up selfie camera, making this a completely separate product. We aren’t exactly sure where this will go, but we’re eager nonetheless.
