LineageOS is one of the most popular custom ROMs for Android devices. Born from the ashes of the iconic and infamous CyanogenMod, LineageOS is now celebrated as a fantastic choice for any device. Very recently, the custom ROM got a base update from Oreo to Pie, and a whole bunch of device got the update. Now, the Mi A1 joins the ranks.
Worldwide units of the Xiaomi Mi A1 has already received the stable Android 9 Pie update. But those keen on experimenting with more than just the pure stock Android can now install the latest build of LineageOS 16 on their Mi A1. Lineage offers extensive theme customizations and visibly faster performance, as well as barely any bloatware.
To install LineageOS 16 on your device, make sure that it has an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery like TWRP installed. You’ll want the latest nightly rom (which you can find here). Also, take a backup of your data and find the appropriate GApps package to complement the custom ROM.
Please do keep in mind that flashing custom ROMs and recoveries could potentially brick your device. If you aren’t exactly sure how all of this works, then at least read up before you attempt any of it. Outside of that, have fun!
