Xiaomi will be launching its first Android Go smartphone – Redmi Go in India on the 19th of March. The company has now started sending media invites for the launch event to be held in New Delhi. The word ‘GO’ is highlighted in the invite, followed by hashtag #MiForYou.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Go was announced earlier this year in the Philippines with an entry-level price tag of PHP 3,990 (roughly Rs. 5,400). Just a couple of days ago we even saw the device launch in Kenyan markets. Now, it’s finally landing in the Indian market.
The devices is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC that’s clocked at 1.4GHz, has 1GB of RAM, and offers just 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a built-in microSD card slot.
The display is a 5-inch HD display, while the cameras on the Redmi Go includes an 8MP main camera system at the rear and 5MP front-facing camera. Powering up the phone is a sizable 3000mAh battery. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition), as expected.
Connectivity options for the phone will include dual-SIM support, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and a micro-USB port. Sensors on board include Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer. It is expected that the smartphone will be priced at around Rs 5,000 in India.
