Today saw the release of the Xiaomi router 4A and 4A Gigabit in China. The latest in Xiaomi’s line of internet routers, the 4A and 4A Gigabit are packing some seriously interesting hardware. Now, let’s take a closer look at this fresh pair of devices.
The Xiaomi router 4A supports 2.4G/5G dual-band concurrent wireless connection with a rate up to 1167Mbps in the AC1200 routing category. It has 4 external high-gain antennas, an environmentally-friendly matte plastic shell and runs MiWROM based on OpenWRT.
It runs on an MT7628DA chip, 64MB of RAM and 16MB of ROM. There’s a single 100M WAN port and two 100M LAN ports on board. Xiaomi says that the 4A is suitable for families with broadband below 100M, and can stably connect up to 64 devices at once.
As for the second model, the Xiaomi Router 4A Gigabit version sports an 880MHz dual-core four-thread processor, 128MB of RAM and 32MB of ROM. There’s one Gigabit WAN port and two Gigabit LAN ports. This one can stably connect up to 128 devices.
In terms of other features, the two routers also support IPv6, child safety Internet access, remote app control, and network notifications. Your average run of the mill features, but a nice inclusion nonetheless.
