Finally it is the moment: Xiaomi has announced the global roll-out of MIUI 9, the latest version of its user interface. We are not talking about a beta version like China Developer or Global Developer: it is the global stable ROM, the definitive one. But, initially, only a few phones will update to the new user interface. The first phones that will update in early November are Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 series (composed of Y1 and Y1 Lite) which has just been announced. The other phones will probably receive the update in a second batch which will be released in the following weeks.
MIUI 9 has been officially announced on July 26 together with Mi 5X: more than three months have passed since its announcement. Xiaomi has declared that the new user interface will be very fast: it will be as fast as Android One on Xiaomi Mi A1, the stock version of the green robot which maximizes performances. According to Xiaomi, the new user interface will be notably faster than Samsung Experience 8.1 found on Samsung Galaxy J7 Max. The UI will obviously be based on Android Nougat, and it will have many new features.
Among these, there will be an advanced split screen feature with picture in picture mode: it will allow you to reduce apps as small floating windows on the screen. You will get a new smart app launcher and the image search feature, which will allow you to search between images using keywords based on their content. There will be auto cache clearing to clean up useless files and speed up your phone without your action, and new animated icons. These are only some of the features that Xiaomi highlighted about its new user interface: there will be much more features and optimizations.
