According to a new leaked invite that has just surfaced on Weibo, the next mobile flagship processor by Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845, will be officially announced in early December. There will be an event: the Snapdragon Technology Summit, and it will be held in Maui, Hawaii. The event will be held from 4 to 8 December, so expect to see the new chipset in one of these days. The new SoC will arrive one month early if we compare it with its predecessor: Snapdragon 835. According to rumors, it will be realized with a 10 nm production process and not with 7 nm FinFET technology as rumors suggested in the last period. Xiaomi Mi7 anyone?
The first smartphone to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC should be Samsung Galaxy S9, for which Qualcomm may dedicate the entire first production batch. After Samsung Galaxy S9, the second phone to get that SoC should be Xiaomi Mi7, just like happened this year. But take this info with a pinch of salt since there is not any official confirmation by the companies in question. According to recent rumors, Qualcomm is also working with Xiaomi to realize a special version of Snapdragon 845 for the Mi7, but we still do not know anything about its performances.
We do not even know the number of cores that will be present on Snapdragon 845. Voices suggested that Xiaomi Mi7 will come with a bezel less display but it may not have a fingerprint reader embedded under the screen. Instead of it, there should be a technology for 3D facial recognition similar to the Face ID that we saw on Apple iPhone X. The RAM should be 6 or 8 GB, while the internal storage should be 64 or more GB depending on the version that you will choose to buy. Expect to see a dual camera setup on the rear side as well.
