MIUI 9 is the latest user interface by Xiaomi and it was announced on July 26, together with the midrange phone Mi 5X. It is mainly based on Android Nougat and it contains many new features. Since then, many versions of the beta ROMs (China Developer and Global Developer) have been rolled out, but we still did not see the stable version. Some users in China have reported that they have received the update to the stable version just some days ago, after three months since the official announcement of the ROM. Now, Xiaomi has finally confirmed that the stable update is going to be rolled out starting from November 2, at least for users in India.
Together with China, India is the most important market for Xiaomi, so it is logical that the update to MIUI 9 comes there firstly. Unluckily, only a few Xiaomi phones will receive the update on November 2, as the updates to the new version of the user interface by Xiaomi always get rolled out in batches. The first devices to get it should be the best selling phones from the last generation, together with the most powerful flagships.
So, we expect Xiaomi Mi6, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 to receive the update first. We are talking about the Global Stable ROM for the international public, and not about the Chinese one. As we said above, there will be many new features in MIUI 9. You will get an advanced split screen feature with picture in picture mode to reduce apps as small floating windows on the screen. There will be a new hardware acceleration system to enhance the performances of Xiaomi phones. There will also be Image Search, a feature to search images with keywords based on their content. You will find a new smart assistant, a smart app launcher and much more.
