Xiaomi Redmi 5A has been officially launched by the Chinese giant. In case you do not know, it will probably be the cheapest phone from the new generation of the Redmi series. It is the successor of Redmi 4A, but it does not have so many improvements if we compare it to its predecessor. The most important one regards the design: now the device has a full metal unibody design unlike its predecessor which was made of polycarbonate.
The look does not change so much, but it is clearly visible even from the photos that the device is more premium aesthetically. The specs of Xiaomi Redmi 5A are not so much different from the ones of its predecessor. If you buy it, you will get a 5 inch display with an HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. There is not any fingerprint reader on the front side, neither on the back cover. On the rear side there is a big speaker grille and on the front side there are Android capacitive buttons. This device has exactly the same hardware side as its predecessor: the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC with a max frequency of 1.2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
There will not be any version with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB ROM unlike rumors suggested. On the rear side there is a single camera setup with a resolution of 13 MP, while on the front side there is a 5 MP snapper for selfies. Xiaomi Redmi 5A has a smaller battery than its predecessor with a capacity of 3000 mAh, but we still do not know how it is optimized, so do not take for sure that it will last lesser. The operating system installed is Android Nougat, with the MIUI 9 user interface installed out of the box. The phone has been launched in China with a price of 599 Yuan: around 90 dollars.
