Xiaomi Redmi 5A will be the cheapest phone from the next generation of devices launched by the Chinese tech giant. It will be a variant of the Redmi 5 with lower specs and a lower price. The first official image regarding this entry level phone has just surfaced: it is a promo poster and it shows a girl holding the device in her hand. From the image we can see the back cover of the phone, which seems more elegant than the one of its predecessor. The color seems Gold, but we do not know if it is made of aluminum or plastic.
From the promo poster we can also see that Xiaomi Redmi 5A will have a weight of 137 grams (making it a very lightweight phone) and MIUI 9 (the latest version of the user interface by Xiaomi) installed out of the box. The phone looks the same as the one we saw in photos by TENAA, when it received the certification from the Chinese agency. On the back there is a single camera and we can not see any fingerprint reader (neither in the image of the front side published by TENAA, in which there are the Android capacitive buttons only).
Xiaomi Redmi 5A, according to latest rumors, will have a 5 inch display showing images at an HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Under the hood there may be the same SoC as the Redmi 4A: we are referring to the octa core Snapdragon 425 chipset by Qualcomm, which can run at a frequency of 1.4 GHz. The chipset is expected to be supported by 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage in the most entry level variant, and by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB ROM in the most powerful one. The camera should have a resolution of 13 MP, while the battery should have a capacity of 3000 mAh.
