Even though they are both bezel less phones they are very different. But which is better? This is a comparison to establish which of these phones is more worth buying in 2017-2018, depending on what kind of user you are.

In terms of design both are wonderful devices, but for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 there are more efforts at making it beautiful. This phone has a back cover made of ceramic, a frame made of metal and one of the highest screen to body ratios ever seen. It also has a 18K gold rim around the camera. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a glass back and an aluminum frame, it is also a waterproof phone and it has a curved display with a high screen to body ratio as well. But we prefer Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a 18:9 display with the IPS LCD technology, a size of 5.99 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Pretty nice detail and very accurate colors, but it is not among the best displays ever, even if it is very innovative. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has the best screen: a panel with the Super AMOLED technology, the support to HDR for richer colors, a Quad HD+ resolution and the highest brightness in the world (1200 nits). Note that Galaxy Note is the only series of phones to support the S Pen: with it, you can draw and write with up to 4096 levels of pression.

The hardware side of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 contains an octa core Snapdragon 835 chipset by Qualcomm, 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB or more of internal storage. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has an octa core Exynos 8895 SoC, 6 GB of RAM and at least 64 GB of storage. Even if there are not enough tests we believe Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 performs better with a higher speed.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 sports a Sony IMX386 sensor with a 12 MP resolution, which can take high-detailed photos in every light condition. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a 12 MP dual camera setup and we think it shots much better photos than its opponent, with better performance in low light conditions and less noise.

There is no challenge, because Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a huge battery. With 4400 mAh of capacity, it will be surely able to last two days of stressed use, while Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with its 3500 mAh battery can only pass one day.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8, thanks to its better display, camera, hardware and the S Pen, is the winner of this comparison. But note that it has a listing price of 999 euros, while Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 starts from around 600 euros and it offers a better design and battery.
