Finally Nokia 8 has been announced: it is the first flagship by the Finnish giant after coming back on the smartphones market with the Android operating system. But can it be considered the best flagship on the market or at least the most convenient one? To discover this, the first step to do in our opinion is comparing it with Xiaomi Mi6, which is actually the flagship phone with the best quality price ratio in our opinion. Xiaomi and Nokia are friends now thanks to a recent agreement, but no friendship matters for customers, so let’s discover which may be better.
Xiaomi Mi6 vs Nokia 8: Design
Beautiful designs in both cases. Xiaomi Mi6 has a back made of glass and a profile made of stainless steel with an astonishing general solidity. It is the first phone made of stainless steel and it promises to be resistant and last over the time. Nokia 8 is a flagship with a glass back and a frame made of aluminum, the look is outstanding, but we prefer Xiaomi Mi6 since it has unique materials and it is more compact.
Xiaomi Mi6 vs Nokia 8: Display
Xiaomi Mi6 has a display with a size of 5.15 inches, showing images at a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It has a very high brightness and well balanced colors. Its opponent, Nokia 8, has a 5.3 inch display with a Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Nokia 8 wins thanks to a higher level of detail and outstanding general viewing performances.
Xiaomi Mi6 vs Nokia 8: Hardware
On the hardware side these phones are very similar if not identical. Xiaomi Mi6 has an octa core Snapdragon 835 SoC by Qualcomm, running at a max frequency of 2.45 GHz and paired with 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. Nokia 8 has the Snapdragon 835 SoC as well, supported by 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. Both are flashes of lightning, with no lags at all and a perfect multi tasking, you would never notice the difference in everyday use. So, it is a draw on the hardware side.
Xiaomi Mi6 vs Nokia 8: Camera
Xiaomi Mi6 sports a dual camera setup with a 12 MP resolution, able to do a 2x optical zoom. In all the light conditions photos are more than sufficient, with a high level of detail and brilliant colors. Nokia 8 has a dual camera as well, but its resolution is 13 MP. There are camera lens by Carl Zeiss too, like on the old Nokia phones. We choose Nokia 8, since it promises better shots even if it has still not been tested accurately.
Xiaomi Mi6 vs Nokia 8: Battery
Xiaomi Mi6 has a battery with a capacity of 3350 mAh, while Nokia 8 has a 3090 mAh battery. Unluckily, there are still not enough test that can let us understand which phone has the best battery life. But it is likely that Xiaomi Mi6 may last more than its opponent.
Xiaomi Mi6 vs Nokia 8: Price
You can actually buy Xiaomi Mi6 at a bit more than 300 dollars in the base version, with a bit of luck. Nokia 8 is going to be costlier, with a price tag of 600 euros, when it will come to the market. Xiaomi Mi6 wins this comparison in our opinion.
