According to new voices, Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2 may be the first phones from China to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 SoC under the hood. We are just talking about rumors, so nothing is confirmed, at least until now. We say “the first Chinese phones” because there is another phone, not from China, which is rumored to be the first with the Snapdragon 836 SoC. We are referring to Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the flagship phablet which will try to recover the Note 7 fiasco. Even in this case, we are talking about rumors, so take everything with a pinch of salt.
And, if you live in Europe, probably the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be released with an Exynos SoC, so Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2 would be the very first phones with Snapdragon 836 if we only consider the European market. They are rumors but they are plausible, since we saw a similar thing the last year. While Xiaomi Mi5 had a Snapdragon 820, both the Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix came with the Snapdragon 821. Probably there will be not much difference between Snapdragon 835 and Snapdragon 836, but there will surely be an increase in performances, or there would be no reason to make a new processor.
According to the latest rumors, the Snapdragon 836 will be an octa core running at a max frequency of 2.5 Ghz. The GPU will still be the Adreno 540, but its clock will probably be boosted to 740 Mhz. Voices are also suggesting that there will be more phone this year with that chipset, that is LG V30 and Google Pixel 2 (and Pixel 2 XL). Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is supposed to have a curved AMOLED display, while the Mi Mix 2 should have an even higher screen to body ratio compared to the previous version. Together with the Snapdragon 836 we will probably see 6 or 8 GB of RAM.
